Feeding your child is one of the most complex things that you will have to do as a parent and when it is not going well it can create stress for the whole family. Whether your child is struggling to meet their growth needs, they are ready to start weaning from a feeding tube, or you have become a short order chief making a separate meal for your child at mealtimes, the Nourish team is here to support you.
Hi, my name is Anjuli Sears and I received my Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Mexico in 2016. I have been working in Pediatrics ever since and have found a passion for working with children that struggle with eating. After spending my first year as an OT working in the clinic and learning behavioral strategies to support these kids, I quickly learned that these strategies often hinder the parent-child trust relationship around eating. After moving to the home environment and working with families through early intervention, I discovered that the natural setting with family involvement provides the best outcomes for these kids.
I soon discovered that Albuquerque was lacking these supports for these families past a child's third birthday, with no options for home based services to specifically support feeding and eating and Nourish Pediatric Therapies was created to fill that need.
Nourish has big goals! We dream of having a feeding team that will support all areas of feeding, including: Speech Language therapy to support the clinical management of dysphagia and swallowing difficulties, nutritional support via a Registered Dietician, and Clinical Psychology. We also plan to expand the insurance plans accepted. If you have any concerns about what services might look like in your child's natural setting versus a clinic setting, please reach out, I would love to have a more in depth discussion of why this setting is beneficial and what a "natural setting" includes!
